'cause we are taking back our live
waiting for things
making it finally our own
something has to change
there has to be a way out
don't be afraid to go
around the bend, closer to where you belong
stop looking for a way out from
choosing to be here, right now
never fail to dream,
you're too comfortable following tradition
'cause any power you have, can't never bring you back,
can't ever fill the cracks, won't ever bring it back
can't buy your life back

everything you needed

you start to loose control
you give up

Video Premiere: “Josephine” on beatsperminute.com!
http://beatsperminute.com/media/video-premiere-old-wives-tale-josephine/
Florida-based indie rock band Old Wive’s Tale is comprised of brothers Jaime and Juan Felipe Valenica on lead guitar and bass respectively, along with Pablo Toro on drums. And having released their sophomore album Late Night Paraphernalia back in late 2010, the band has decided to release a video for their track “Josephine” taken from that record. The video for “Josephine,” directed by Pablo Piriz and filmed by Angel Barroeta, tells the story of a group of urban graffiti artists who turn random street fixtures (street lights, mailboxes, and parking meters) into robotic figures that display anti-labor messages such as “life turns into labor” and “hunt your great white whale.” This is all juxtaposed against footage of the band playing together on a strobe-lit stage with orchestrated lights flashing behind them. And between the surging waves of electric guitar, elastic bass, and thumping percussion, the band burns through the song at a marathon pace. And while the song itself details the narrator dealing with emotional withdrawals from the titular Josephine, the video makes good use of the song’s quick-paced melody and cathartic vocals to accompany its visuals.
Beats Per Minute is please to premiere the video for “Josephine” taken from Old Wives’ Tale’s latest album Late Night Paraphernalia.
Hello boys and girls,
We talked Felipe into doing a documentary for Heineken called Gen H (it’s almost a reality, but we forgot to mention that part until the day of the actual shoot). Anyway, he and the rest of the band, will be featured in Gen H on Discovery Channel En Español on Saturday, September 22 at 10PM/7PM (Eastern/Pacific Time). …make sure you let Felipe know your thoughts, we’re sure he would love to hear about how he looses his train of thought in the middle of interviews.
Enjoy!

We know we like to keep things to ourselves, specially when it comes to family, but we couldn’t help it this time.
To the older brother that has been our mentor, the bouncer to keep us safe (even when it wasn’t needed) and the soul of the party. Here is to you Tavo! We love you and we can’t wait for you to start balding so that we can pick on you.
Happy Birthday!
Hello,
Here are some updates from the August Newsletter that you might have missed. (you can sign-up anytime):
It looks like we are stil able to make an impression: Our song “Bliss” made OurStage’s Editor Picks for August!
You can visit OurStage’s facebook page and download “Bliss” for free (courtesy of Old Wives’ Tale) along with other songs.
Pablo [drums] is fully recuperated from his dislocated shoulder he suffered in June (ouch!) after our gig in Los Angeles. Thank you for all your get-well messages and thank you for the photo that one of you caring fans sent to help him feel better…we think it did.
We also want to thank all of you that voted at the 10th Annual IMAs VOX POP Poll! You are the guilty party for making our home website www.listentotheold.com the winner of the “Best Design – Music Website” category, a collaboration between Dorotea & Maddness who took home the trophy.
If you haven’t already, go to Samsonite América Latina’s Facebook page and download a free copy of our song “Stranger” from our recent album Late-Night Paraphernalia (2010) curtesy ofTBWA Latin America and Old Wives’ Tale…man, we need to start charging for our songs, we don’t want to spoil you rotten.
And last but not least, we read some books on iframes and decided to add our own Facebook Music Store for those of you that can’t get enough of Old Wives’ Tale’s music. You are quite welcome, enjoy!
Cheers,
Old Wives’ Tale

Not that we mind Def Leopard, but we are not ready to have a drum set full of pedals so that Pablo [drums] can perform with his shinny new dislocated shoulder.
We are very sad to inform that our show at El Cid on Saturday, June 25 in Los Angeles has been cancelled due to a dislocated shoulder injury from our drummer Pablo. We don’t take any of our cancellations lightly and we hope you can understand that Pablo’s health is our top priority.
Thank you for your understanding and we’ll keep you posted on any updates.
Cheers,
Old Wives’ Tale

PS – Pablo is fine and getting better. Thank you for the love mail.
It’s been a busy first half of 2011 boys and girls!
We recently opened our west coast headquarters in Los Angeles so that we can cover more of the US of A, along with our east coast headquarters in Miami.
We teamed up (again) with our good friend Roberto Max Salas and Nick Panayotopoulos with their partytimewith.us campaign for Create or Else, Ogilvy’s YouTube channel. You can check out the song Bliss by yours truly on their promotion video The Party:
Also, our new friends from TBWA Latin America selected Stranger to be the official song for their new campaign for Samsonite Latin America. You can check out their official campaign page on facebook where you can even download Stranger for FREE or you can check out the official video Parkour with Adrián González below:
This past Saturday, we performed for the first time in Los Angeles at the infamous El Cid for a chance at a spot on the El Cid stage during Sunset Junction in August. Apparently the LA kids also enjoy our little tunes so we will be performing again on Saturday, June 25 (if Pablo’s [drums] shoulder gets better after he discolated it over the weekend) for the finals where the winner of the Sunset Junction spot will be selected. For more details you can visit the event page here. If you will be in Los Angeles, we hope to see you there!
Cheers,
Old Wives’ Tale
